Paul has a PhD in China studies and history from the Australian Centre on China in the World at the Australian National University. 

 

He has taught units on history and society in China and Taiwan, and delivered PhD workshops on academic writing. He has extensive experience in editing academic publications, especially in the social sciences and humanities.

 

Paul is familiar with the challenges faced by native Chinese speakers when writing in academic English and is aware of many aspects of Sinology - both contemporary and historical - being familiar with places, people and concepts that inform this broad field of knowledge.

 

In addition to his dissertation he has published four refereed academic chapters (see below), with two more accepted for publication.

Paul is currently co-editor of the China Story, a web-based account of contemporary China, and has been involved with this project since its inception in 2012.
